Grasping & Growing in God's Word

Word blog

Scripture says in Proverbs 27:23 that we are to "Be diligent to know the state of the flock, And to attend to the herd".

That is a mandate to the pastoral leaders here at Hardy Street… We need to have a clear picture of the condition of the church and we need to paint an even clearer picture of where we are going as a church! That's why Pastor Scott Hanberry & Family Ministry Pastor, Scott Pittman are sharing a "State of the Church" Address on New Year's day (January 1, 2017).

In that message, we will be sharing  a list of goals that our faith family will pursue together in 2017. We are calling 2017, “The Year of Discipleship”! We want to challenge everyone to passionately pursue Jesus and we want to provide the tools to equip that pursuit! We think this is a critical step toward starting the New Year out right!

One component in that pursuit is developing healthy habits of Bible intake! Donald S. Whitney has written a great deal on the discipline of Bible intake suggesting that there is incredible significance of the daily saturation in Scripture for developing a more gospel-centered, Christ-focused life!

The Word of God is the authoritative guide for our lives - our beliefs & our behavior. The Holy Spirit guides us to understand the Word and shapes us through that Word. We are equipped for every good work through the Word of God.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Because we believe so strongly in the power of the Word of God to shape the lives of Jesus-followers, in 2017, We want every member of Hardy Street Baptist Church to:

~ Get into God's Word
~ Grasp God's Word
~ Grow in God's Word

We will provide tools to help you in each of these areas and in the coming days, we will utilize this blog to share walk alongside one another on this journey.
