Meet Ken Hopkins

Ken Hopkins

My Family: Sue and I, each having been led of God in the choice of our mate (we both began praying for and seeking God’s direction in our early teen years for our lifetime mate) were married in 1963. We have been blessed by three daughters, Becky, Diana, Sharon, 7 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

My Story: Following high school graduation, and serving 4 years in the US Air Force, God began my preparation for His calling into the gospel ministry. After attending college and seminary for the next 9 years, God led us to one church in Texas while in seminary, then to churches in Mississippi, Illinois, and Mississippi again in 1985. We have been blessed to serve Temple Baptist Church and Hardy Street Baptist Church these past 30 years (Temple Baptist Church became two separate churches in 2011). My ministry began as Music Director while in seminary; then, as Minister of Music, Youth and Education. My ministry at Temple Baptist Church began as Minister of Education, and I now serve as Senior Adults Pastor at Hardy Street Baptist Church.
I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ as a 13 year old boy, having been influenced by godly church people and especially my Sunday School teachers.

My Favorite Verse: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1

My Hobbies: Antiques, Flea Markets, wood working, and yard work.
