In 2017, we want to challenge you to grow in God's Word! One way to do that is to memorize the Word! I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11)
That is why we are introducing "Life Guide Verses"! Each week we will emphasize one verse or group of verses to memorize together. Many of these verses will already be familiar to you, but this practice will help you to meditate upon them and to nail down where they are in the Bible! These verses will coincide with our preaching calendar as well.
Why should we memorize Scripture? In an article by pastor and author, John Piper offers the following reasons:

January 8 - The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. Psalm 24:1
January 15 - Matthew 6:21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
January 22 - Matthew 10:32-33 Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.
January 29 - Ephesians 5:15-16 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
