Meet Laura Kahler

My family: I am married to my wonderful husband, David, and we have 1 daughter. We also have 2 dogs named Brody and Serratia.
My story: I became a Christian when I was 8 years old. I didn’t have a deep knowledge of doctrine or theology, but I knew I was a sinner and that I needed and wanted Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. As I grew older, experienced different joys and trials, and got to know other Christians, I began understanding that my walk with the Lord is a relationship and that He knows and deeply loves me. I went through rebellious stages in life, but God always guided me back to Him so that I could live the life He has called me to live. I have always worked with and had a passion for ministering to children, which led me to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I taught for 7 years before I had my daughter and began staying home with her.
My favorite verses:
For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13
“There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:26-28

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

My favorite quotes:

"Fear arises when we imagine that everything depends on us." -Elisabeth Elliot
"I realized that the deepest spiritual lessons are not learned by His letting us have our own way in the end, but by His making us wait, bearing with us in love and patience until we are able to honestly pray what He taught His disciples to pray: Thy will be done." -Elisabeth Elliot
"We can't listen to all these voices just because they are loud. The wisdom that informs our lives must come from the often quieter but powerful voice of God." -Sally Clarkson
