Meet Linda Smith

MY FAMILY: Eddie and I have been married for 50 years. We have been blessed with a son, Michael, and a daughter, Kathy. We have 3 grandchildren, Cody, Hannah & Austin, and an adorable great-granddaughter, Isabel.

MY STORY: I am one of 5 siblings. My mother had a strong faith in God and worked at raising us kids to believe in, love, and trust God. At age 8, it was the most gentle, natural thing for me to desire a personal relationship with Jesus. After talking with me and answering questions, my mother had me talk to my Sunday School teacher, and then had our pastor visit with me in our home, wanting to be certain that I understood what it meant to accept Jesus as my Savior and Lord. There in our living room with my parents, my pastor led me to pray to ask Jesus to be my Savior and my Lord.

From that experience as a child, God has used His word, as well as numerous people and experiences to grow my faith.

MY FAVORITE VERSE:  Many verses have become precious to me as they have applied to specific circumstances in my life, but there are 2 that are really special. Jeremiah 32:17 says, "O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you."  Psalm 16:5: "You, Lord, are all I have, and You give me all I need; my future is in your hands."

MY FAVORITE QUOTE(s):  A favorite quote that family and friends have often heard me use is, "Love covers a multitude of sins." This is actually straight from Scripture in 1 Peter 5:8 and reminds me that because God extended love and grace to cover our sins when we love others we can show love and grace to them when they mess up.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE(s):  My favorite movies tend to be the ones I’ve seen most recently because they are freshest in my memory. I have recently enjoyed The Greatest Showman and I Can Only Imagine and would gladly watch these again.

There is also an OLD movie called Lilies of the Field which is special to me because Eddie and I saw it on our first date, May 8, 1964.

MY FAVORITE HOBBIES:

I like to read—I enjoy a variety of fiction and non-fiction, and for inspirational reading, I like anything by Max Lucado. But I suppose my favorite "hobby" at this stage of my life is my grandchildren and great-grandchild.
