Isaiah’s gives a prophetic announcement of a new King and His eternal dominion! The significance of this King is embodied by the names given at His birth! To the Hebrews a name was not a label, or a tool to distinguish one person from another; a person's name was viewed as equivalent to the person himself. It signified their person, worth, character, reputation, authority, will, and ownership. These names of Jesus point us to the glorious Kingdom of God!
