John 20:1-28
Dr. Scott Hanberry

God has answered your deepest questions with the simplicity of an empty tomb. On this happy Easter morning, I declare to you that Jesus Christ is alive...and that changes EVERYTHING!

I believe Thomas has a message for us today...especially for those who have seen hopes and dreams destroyed. Doubting Thomas would tell his story of how Jesus' life had intercepted his own. He would tell us of his fears and doubts. And then, with a radiant, joyful face, St. Thomas, Apostle to India, would recount his joy at seeing and knowing the risen Jesus himself. "My Lord and my God!" he would say. "My Lord and my God!"

Three things that he missed that I don't want you to miss:

1) Jesus had already _______________ and _______________ that He would rise!

2) Jesus had already _______________ His _______________ over death!

3) Jesus had _______________ _______________ to people!

  • He rose personally -- Jesus himself, not some substitute.
  • He rose bodily -- His crucified body was raised.
  • He rose physcially -- He wasn't a ghost or a phantom or a figment of someone's imagination.
  • He rose actually and literally -- it really happened!
