IT MATTERS: Who You Become!
Galatians 5:16-26
Dr. Scott Hanberry

Statement of Affirmation: I walk by the Spirit of God so that I will not carry out the desires of my flesh.

We often want the fruit of the Spirit to develop in our lives, but we neglect spiritual preparation for producing such fruit. In Galatians 5, Paul challenges us to first pull the weeds of the sinful nature.

A unique paradox:

The Holy Spirit works through objective _____________ of grace.

Biblical truth, prayer, fellowship, worship, service, etc…are means of grace whereby we open ourselves to change!
Holy habits, developed by self-discipline and effort, are not _______________ products, but _________________ empowered!

Holiness by habit forming is not self-sanctification by self-effort, but is simply a matter of understanding the Spirit's method and then keeping in step with him” ~ J.I. Packer

An unmistakable process:

Living by the Spirit means walking in an __________________ of His presences and an ______________________ of prayer!
Living by the Spirit requires ___________________ thinking!
Living by the Spirit means _________________ to myself.

A beautiful prospect:

Life by the Spirit ________________ in ways the flesh never can.
